Christmas is right around the corner, and I have to admit that staying accountable can sometimes seem like a daunting task. With all the sweets and festive lattes within hands reach the temptation is always there.
Each morning after dropping my little ones off at school I have a battle with my conscious. To stop at the drive-thru on the way home and grab a Peppermint Mocha… Or not… What does one do?
It can be so easy to want to indulge at this time of year, but often I am quick to remind myself that a lot of these festive treats come with a high cost in calorie intake.
While I do believe in balance and enjoying the occasional treat, I try not to indulge too often. It is for this very reason that I have spent a lot of time in my kitchen trying to recreate a lot of my favourite holiday drinks as healthy on-the-go breakfast and post-workout options.
One of my new go-to’s being the Peppermint Mocha Protein Shake. It tastes very similar to the one you can grab at your local coffee shop, less all the unnecessary sugar, fat and calories.

Peppermint Mocha Protein Shake Recipe
- 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1/2 cup cold coffee
- 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
- scoop or two of chocolate protein power (use your protein powders suggested scoops per serving as a guideline)
- handful of ice
- Add all ingredients to blender, and blend until well combined.
- Serve immediately.
