Life with 4 kids can be busy, and time can be something that I often feel like I am short on. Something I always make time for though is my daily workout. I crave that 30 minutes of daily active, and aim to fit in time to do my 3 online personal trainer workouts, 2 to 3 3-mile runs and a couple of my workout DVD programs each week.
More recently my favourite workout programs have been Jillian Michaels Hot Body, Healthy Mommy, and her new release, 10-Minute Body Transformation.
I keep my copy of these DVDs tucked away in my Gaiam Duffle Bag with my yoga mat, hand weights, towel and workout gear. This way I can easily grab my workout gear when I am heading out on a business trip or I can just quickly pull out what I need quickly for a sweat sesh at home. And trust me when I say, when the opportunity to arises to workout at home I need to be able to grab what I need to get it done quickly because it usually means me little one is napping.
Jillian Michaels 10-Minute Body Transformation is great for those who are often busy with the kids, life at home, work or travel. The workout DVD program comes equipped with 5 fun and effective 10 minute workouts that are all different:
- CALISTHENICS: Total body conditioning work utilizing killer bodyweight-only exercises.
- KICKBOX BLAST: Knock out both fat and stress with boxing and MMA-inspired combos to incinerate body fat.
- BOOTY BOOT CAMP: A booty-sculpting power workout that will lift, shape and tone your backside.

Quite often I will pop this DVD on over the weekends when I am craving a little me time. Some times I will sneak in 10 minutes. Other times I will stack a handful of the workouts together depending on what our schedule and day looks like.
More often than not you will likely find me doing the Kickbox Blast workout to de-stress. You know when the pressures of motherhood have worn me thin and I just need a break. And, trust me when you say you shake of a lot of stress during this 10 minute workout. Not only that you burn a lot of calories! It is designed to really boost your heart rate.

When I first began using Jillian Michaels 10-Minute Body Transformation at the beginning of September, I was just beginning to easy back into my regular workout routine. I had been off my feet from the end of June through to the end of August due to a knee injury. A knee injury that had me left feeling very sorry for myself. So sorry that I let myself go. While I focused on working on my physio exercises, I found it hard to have the motivation to remain accountable.
The 10-Minute Body Transformation program offered me a slow way to re-start my regular fitness routine. Even by having to do so with modifications. The modifications didn’t make my workouts any less effective. I always found that I was able to break a good sweat regardless of how hard I went each time.
I have really focused on eating healthier and trying to be more active over the past month and a half, and I have seen amazing results. I have lost 10 pounds and a fair amount of inches. I can notice my body toning, I am feeling stronger and am beginning to feel more ok in my own skin. Nothing is worse than feeling uncomfortable and just not like you. It sucks to be the girl in front of mirror not liking the girl who is looking back her. Thankfully, I can say I am over that hump and it feels so good!
So while it can be hard to keep up a solid workout routine with 4 kids, one being 7 months old, I actively try to get in 5 workout sessions a week. Whether they be 10 minutes or 60 minutes, I figure a short workout is better than no workout at all. I always feel that much better having done it in the end, and that is where the motivation lies.
