Preparing for the birth of my baby is something I can remember vividly. It may have been over 4 months ago that I was in prep mode, but it feels like it was just yesterday. It was a time that I had such high hope that I would be that new Mom that would be able to keep up with all the regular household chores while also getting dinner on the table every night. I even went as far as creating a round-up of 81 quick and easy weeknight dinner recipes. I figured this round-up would give my husband and I the incentive to meal plan, and enjoy homecooked meals. I was terribly wrong.

Meal planning was the last of my concerns as a New Mom. Takeout became an age-old friend. One we began seeing too much of it.

I wanted so badly to be in my kitchen cooking, but I just didn’t have the motivation to plan out the healthy meals each week. I knew something had to give. There had to be a way for me to be able to get back in the kitchen without all the extra work of having to plan out dinners.

Making meal planning as simple as heading online each week to view the meal plans and select your recipes. The weekly recipes are created by an awesome culinary team and guests chefs who ensure that each recipe is balanced and nutritious. You have the option to choose 2 to 4 dishes from a 2-person meal plan or a family meal plan. Each dish includes locally sourced ingredients and meats that are antibiotic and hormone-free. The best part? All the ingredients are already pre-portioned.

I had the delight of trying out the Chicken Chimichangas and Lentil Meatballs this week. I am not sure which meal I loved more. They were nothing short of incredible.

What I love about the weekly meal plans from Chefs Plate is that you are presented with recipe options that you would have never thought possible to be able to prepare in a pinch on a weeknight. They make you realize how easy it is to cook quality, healthy, gourmet meals at home even on a busy weeknight. The recipes also each over a unique flavour. There is something to suit the taste of everyone.

My husband’s favourite dish was the Chimichangas. Whereas mine was the Lentil Meatballs. I had never had Lentil Meatballs before and was a little unsure of what I would think of them prior to making them. It is now probably one of my all-time favourite dishes that I cannot wait to make again. The flavours of the dish were exquisite.

Chef's Plate Review

The bonus? Both meals took no longer than 30 minutes to prepare! One would never think that when looking at a photo of each of the recipes. Seriously – I look at the photos and think I can’t believe I made that and it was easy! Chefs Plate took the guesswork out of it, and I love that.

I cannot wait to put in my next order with Chefs Plate. It is a service that will come in so handy for my family, not just during the busy Summer months, but year round. The best part? I am able to start and stop my subscription as I see fit. I am not committed to buying into a meal plan each week.

This is such a great idea especially because it’s just me and my husband so this not only takes the guessing out of the day but it also saves time because I wouldn’t have to do any groceries.
