Making the shift to motherhood can not only be exciting, but also stressful. It is a big adjustment. One that can find you struggling to make time for you and your well-being. Your days shouldn’t just be geared towards putting your baby first. I know it can be easy to fall into that pattern, but you also need to make sure you take care of yourself too! Putting yourself on the back burner is the last thing you want, and with these self care tips for new Moms, we hope you will be able to find some time for you during these early days of motherhood!

Sleep. Whenever you get the chance to sneak in some Zzz’s… DO IT! You will feel that much better for it afterwards. The housework can always wait! And, if it isn’t your baby keeping you awake, but your husband snoring at night – throw this tincture his way! (You’ll thank me later!). If you are struggling to fit in time for sleep, Orange Naturals has a Fatigue tincture that is safe while breastfeeding and can give you that extra boost.

Accept Help. I know, I know… It can be so hard to ask for help, but don’t hesitate to do it! Help could be as much as asking a friend to come snuggle your baby, so that you can sneak in a few Zzz’s.

Remain Active. You don’t need to fit in a workout everyday, but at least try to get outdoors for some fresh air and a walk. Not only will you enjoy it, but baby will too! Two to three 15 to 30 minute walks a day can be so rejuvenating to the mind and body.

Love Coffee? Set your brewer to brew your coffee in the morning. If you can’t schedule your brewer, ask your spouse to prepare your coffee before leaving for work in the morning.

Prepare your Breakfast the Night Before. Finding time to eat breakfast can be a huge struggle, especially if you have kids you need to ready for school while also caring for baby. For this reason prepare, overnight oats, quinoa breakfast bowls or chia puddings the night before. This way you can enjoy a hearty meal while feeding the baby in the morning.

Prepare Simple Snacks. Finding time to eat as a new Mom can be difficult. Aim to fill your pantry and fridge with healthy snacks that you can binge on on-the-go. Personally, I love to chop up all my veggies post-grocery run and store them in the fridge for snacks during the week. These Crunchy Chia Peanut Butter Snack Bites also make an awesome snack on-the-go too, and are also great if you are looking to boost breast milk supply! Additionally, if I’m really short on time I love to shake myself up a bottle of ND Shake, which is packed full of essential nutrients, plant proteins and fiber that will give the added boost of energy over the day to care for baby!

Stay Hydrated.  Remember to drink at least 64 ounces of water a day. If breastfeeding, take your body weight and divide it in half – aim to drink that amount of water a day. Water will help boost your energy levels while also flushing toxins from your immune system.

Meal Plan. Making dinner can be so hard, especially when you have a newborn. Take the time to plan out simple meals each week. We have a list of 81 quick and easy meals that your can root through, which will get you well on your way to eating nutritious meals and avoiding the daily splurge on takeout.

Don’t Live in your PJs. Seriously! I know how tempting it can be to stay in your PJs day in and out, but I always find I feel that much better when I get dressed for the day. Even if it is to get out of your PJs and into your yoga clothes, it will help you feel that much more fresh.

Put Yourself on Time Out. It is ok to put baby down in a safe place and walk away to breathe and recollect. Life as a new Mom can be overwhelming and stressful. If you ever feel yourself breaking, take a moment alone to take some deep cleansing breathe and refresh your mind. Baby may cry, but they will survive that few minute break from you while you regain your sanity. Orange Naturals Stress + Calm can help too!

Take your Vitamins and Supplements. Remember to take you prenatal multi vitamins, probiotics and other supplements!

Remember that the Housework Can Wait! You can always clean the house later, but what can’t wait is those precious baby snuggles. Your little one will only remain little for so long, embrace those snuggles. If you absolutely feel the need to clean, store a bottle of disinfectant wipes in common areas of your home so that as you pass by you can wipe down common areas each day.

Don’t Be Afraid to Decline Visitors. If you aren’t feeling up for hosting visitors, that’s ok.  Set limitations to when people can visit and don’t be afraid to decline a visit.

Go Easy On Yourself. There is no such thing as super Mom. Don’t feel the need to strive to be her! Motherhood is a learning process. There will be times you screw up and that’s ok, but trust your instincts and go with your gut. Remember no Mom is perfect, and your child will love you regardless.

Take Time For You. Make time for you, and often. Whether it is to enjoy a hot shower or soak in the tub every other night with a glass of wine, a trip to the salon or a night with the girls… Be sure to dedicate a time for yourself. You can’t always be on ON in motherhood… You also need to focus on just being you!

Follow your baby’s cues or sleep when the baby sleeps. Although some people can’t and need to work or do something- then i recommend using a baby carrier and then you’re both happy 🙂

I’d say to accept all offers and help and even ask people to do things. Often they want to help but don`t think to ask.
