Me time is something I crave often. In fact I have entitled my me time as mommy timeout. When I am on a self-imposed timeout, I usually grab a glass of wine, my smartphone and my latest paperback novel and flock to the soaker tub to unwind. Just a girl, her book, enjoying some peace and quiet. It’s always a welcomed break. A break that doesn’t happen often enough.

Up until now I have always enjoyed reading paperback books. There is just something about the smell of a new book! It’s almost like the smell of a new car. Well… maybe not exactly like the smell of a new car, but you catch my drift.

My only qualm with paperback is the balancing act of handling it in the tub without getting the pages wet. It isn’t nearly as easy as one may imagine.

It wasn’t until I received a Kobo Glo HD that I truly began to understand the ease of reading in the tub. The ease of not having to juggle a paperback book while lounging in a sudsy bubble bath.

Reading is now such a convenience, and something I look forward to.

Currently, I am reading The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. The book is a a debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people’s lives. It focuses on a girl named Rachel who takes the same commuter train each morning. Everyday as the train rattles down the tracks, it passes a bunch of suburban homes, and often stops at the signal where she has become fixated on watching a couple – who she has given the names of Jess and Jason – as they enjoy breakfast on their deck. To Rachel, Jason and Jess’ life is perfect, which says a lot more than her life and the shambles it is currently in. BUT – one day something shocking happens and everything changes.

I haven’t been able to put this book down since I started reading just a few days ago. There is something alluring about this novel and the way it is written. Once you start reading, you just can’t stop.

I have even found myself lying in bed, reading in the middle of the night. The fully adjustable ComfortLight makes it possible. It certainly feeds my addiction and desire to get lost in a good book.

Speaking of feeding the addiction! I also downloaded the Kobo App to my smartphone. The app can be used on many devices, including Android, and makes reading that much more accessible. So if I forget my Kobo at home on a run to pick up the little madame from school, I can rest assured that I can access my reading material through the app on my phone while sitting and waiting for school to be let out. The best part being that the data syncs between devices, so I never have to worry about losing the spot I had last bookmarked.

The Kobo Glo HD has helped breathe new life into my dwindling passion for reading. I now crave the moment I can dive into a new book. I love the convenience that this device has provided! It is compact and lightweight enough that I can travel with it. I can gain easy and instant access to Kobo’s 24/7 bookstore where there is constantly millions of books at my fingertips, and recommendations on reading materials that best suit my interests.

Lastly, I love that the Kobo Glo HD logs my reading stats. It lets me know how many books in my library, I have read. What books I am currently reading. How long I have spent reading (total), and how much time I have spent reading each book. The reading stats actual give me that gentle nudge I need to keep reading. It’s almost like it has ignited this challenge for me to keep up my momentum of diving into book after book.

Once I have finished The Girl on the Train, I plan to check out The Mountain Story by Lori Lansens. I have heard so many great things about that novel! That being said, I am always looking for new titles to check out, so if you have read a book recently that you absolutely loved, leave a comment below providing me your book recommendations.
