The Chinese New Year is just days away. Will you be celebrating?

Each year my family makes a point to order in Chinese food on or around the Chinese New Year. Let’s face it – being a Mom to two children 4.5 and under – I never have had the time or energy to whip up some traditional Chinese dishes at home. Well unless you count my nontraditional take on Chicken Fried Rice. Most recipes for Chinese food always seem so daunting. I love a challenge in the kitchen, but not one that will tie me down for hours on end.

I can tell you that all this rapidly changed when I was recently introduced to Blue Dragon.

Blue Dragon was was created over thirty years ago when the founder realised there was hardly anything available in the stores that would help people create authentic Asian dishes at home. Blue Dragon has since become a great way to help you create delicious dishes from China, Thailand, Japan and Vietnam.

This year I am able to enjoy quality downtime with my family, but not only that a delicious meal while we celebrate the Chinese New Year.

A great conversation to be had while you enjoy tantalizing taste buds with the above-mentioned dishes would be to discuss your Chinese Zodiac Sign with your family! My family is made up of a rat, dog, ox, and rabbit. Soon we will also have a horse to add to our pre-existing zoo.

That’s right — this year is the year of the horse!

If this is your sign, here is a little more information you might enjoy:

Born in: 1906, 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014

It’s so lovely to be around you, Horse! You’re genial, friendly, physically attractive, very social and generally popular because you put people at ease. Not only are you charming, but you’re also known as a hard worker. Easily bored, you sometimes act on impulse—usually to the delight of others, because you’re a definite crowd-pleaser.

Colour: Red

Strengths and weaknesses: Your excellent work ethic will pay off in spades but may also make you greedy and selfish. Highly intelligent, deep down that translates as a bit cunning.

Compatibility: You are compatible with the Tiger and the Dog, but not so much the Ox.  – Source: Canadian Living
