It’s been pretty quiet on the site for the past week or so. By that am referring to my lack of new posts. Not to fret – I have a lot of creative backed up in the pipeline, but truth be told I have been quite sick.

For about 3 weeks now I have been battling some sort of virus. Well actually it started with me being sick for one week… Having a 2-3 day grace period where I felt on top of the world… and then it hit me again; feeling progressively worse as each day has passed.

Let me tell you – I love being pregnant. I totally am embracing every moment! The kicks, the morning sickness (even if it has been minimal), the glow, the cravings… everything! However being pregnant and sick is the pits. I’m not going to lie. It sucks! Big time.

I haven’t had a good night sleep in weeks. I kept joking, saying that it was my body’s way of preparing me for the baby’s arrival.

By Halloween my cough while persistent and nagging had also become painful, and I was in the throes of vomiting mucus. I found myself bowing down to the porcelain god on many occasions and not for good reasons. So I gave in and went to urgent care. I figured they wouldn’t be able to do anything for me. That they would just tell me it was viral, to go home and let it run it’s course. Wrong.

My partner in crime waiting at urgent care with me.

The urgent care doctor spent a good 40 minutes assessing me. Turns out I had the early stages of pneumonia. I’m allergic to penicillin and all the other antibiotic options aren’t deemed safe during pregnancy, so the urgent care doctor prescribed me codeine. The codeine is meant to help me sleep and suppress the cough. Lord knows I need sleep! Heck the doctor even mentioned he could see the exhaustion in my eyes.

So with all that said…. I have a weekend date with my bed. Shocking, right?!? Resting is so not my forte. However, I need to put myself and the baby first.

As I sit here with a hot cup of tea, pondering ways to pass the next 48 hours… I have to say a chick flick  and comedy movie fest is really screaming out to me!

Vince Vaughn is one of my favourite actors, and I know that his most recent flick – The Internship – just hit DVD.

“Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson team up to crash the digital world in this laugh-out-loud buddy comedy you’ve been searching for! Trying to reboot their obsolete careers, old-school salesmen Billy (Vaughn) and Nick (Wilson) talk their way into aninternship program at the state-of-the-art Google campus, vying for a handful of spots among tech-savvy college students who are half their age and twice as smart. The competition is fiercely funny as Billy and Nick break all the rules in a hilarious quest to land their dream jobs!”

After watching the trailer, I can tell you that The Internship is definitely on my must watch list for today. However, why stop there?

Vince Vaughn movie marathon, anyone?!

I’m thinking I’ll also watch Couples Retreat, Wedding Crashers, The Break-Up… AND – my all-time favourite chick flick… How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. I know it doesn’t feature Vince Vaughn, but c’mon – it goes down in my books a a chick flick classic!

So while I may be on a bit of a hiatus at the moment and resting… just know that I’m still floating around in the background and trying to get better!

With that said — I would love to know… What is your favourite chick flick or romantic comedy?

I hope you feel better real soon! It’s not fun being sick but especially so when you’re expecting. Hopefully you will get lots of rest this weekend. My favorite chick flick is The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, I always feel better after watching it 🙂

Ugh you poor girl. I hope you get the rest you need and are feeling better real soon! There’s not much worse then being sick and pregnant!! I am glad that you and baby are ok and relieved you went to urgent care, I can’t imaging the shape you’d been in by mid week!! Take it easy, rest, lots of fluids.. and thank the heavens above we don’t have outhouses anymore lol *hugs*

Get better soon. You can never fully appreciate good health until your ill. One of my favorite feelings is returning back to normal after being sick. ( loving on the hubby, seeing friends again, doing daily chores etc.) I enjoy watching the notebook.
