Every family has a place that they like to travel to as often as they can. This place could be anything from a campground, cottage, local village to a tropical destination. The options truly are endless. For my family — we hold Mexico and Niagara Falls near and dear to our hearts. I have traveled to Mexico 6 times in my lifetime. Whereas I have traveled to Niagara Falls god only knows how many times. My family makes a point of hitting up Niagara Falls at the very least 3 to 4 times a year. Usually for my birthday and various anniversaries. Niagara Falls is truly a place like nowhere else.

Niagara Falls is one of Canada’s natural beauties. It’s known as the honeymoon capital of the world. It’s a fabulous destination for a family or romantic getaway. I’m grateful that this wondrous city is a mere 2 hour drive from my small town! It makes the idea of a staycation that much more enjoyable.
This past weekend I had the pleasure of spending Mother’s Day weekend at Falls Avenue Resort with my family. Falls Avenue Resort is home to four hotels, including: Sheraton on the Falls, Crowne Plaza by Niagara Falls – Fallsview, Skyline Inn, and Hampton Inn by Hilton at the Falls. My family stayed at the Sheraton on the Falls.
I was amazed by the service upon arriving at the Sheraton on the Falls. Upon arrival we were greeted by valet who informed us to park our vehicle and proceed to guest services to check-in. The process of checking into the hotel was seamless. We  had arrived approximately 40 minutes before the slated check-in time, but our room was fortunately ready. Had it not been… we could have left our cell phone number with the front desk, and they would text to inform the guest once the room was available. Talk about amazing service!
Once we checked in my family and I headed back out to our car to unload, and park. You can either self-park your vehicle for $20, or Sheraton’s valet service can take care of your car for $30. We opted for the valet services. A bell boy helped us unload our vehicle, and ensured our luggage arrived at our room. Upon arriving at our room, he unloaded the cart and ensured we had everything we needed. He even went as far as seeing that a crib was brought to our hotel room for my 2 year old. Sheraton on the Falls is great in that you can either request bed rails or cribs for the young’uns!
Within 45 minutes of arrival, we were nestled into our cozy little premium fallsview room, enjoying a glass of vino and taking in the breathtaking view! My kids could have sat in front of the window all day staring at the Falls. It truly is enchanting!
I always like to joke that if you are having a bad day, you should head to Niagara and just sit by the Falls. It’s funny how quickly just watching the Falls can make all life’s headaches fade away (even if it is just temporarily)!
This is just one of the many shots I snapped of the breathtaking view from our room:
After hanging out in the room for a few hours, we headed down to dinner at the Fallsview Restaurant. Fallsview Restaurant is a family-friendly, buffet style restaurant. The restaurant features meal options for everyone, including the most finicky of eaters.
During our stay at Falls Avenue Resort there was a dance and cheer competition taking place. My husband and I took notice of the many families settling their children into Fallsview Restaurant for dinner while they enjoyed dinner at Windows by Jamie Kennedy. Both restaurants are adjacent one another. Genius!
Following dinner we found ourselves at the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark. It was quick walk from the Sheraton on the Falls. One that could even be done via the indoor walkway on a rainy or blustery day (we have experienced many of those!).
The Fallsview Indoor Waterpark is 3 acres, and a balmly 84 degrees year round. The Fallsview Indoor Waterpark features 16 thrilling water slides, massive indoor wave pool, hot springs and an outdoor sundeck with pool!
During our visit we found we stuck close to the Beach House and wave pool. Both were well-suited for my preschooler and toddler.
My husband and I keep commenting on how we can’t wait to plan another trip to Falls Avenue Resort… this time without the kids in tow, so that we can experience Fallsview Indoor Waterpark’s thrilling water slides. They looked so awesome, and adrenaline pumping!
My son is going through a phase where he hates anything related to water, so my husband and I had to take turns venturing into the waterpark with my daughter. I managed to snap this shot from the waterpark during one of my snuggles with my little guy.
The waterpark closed at 9PM. We were there until it shutdown. After which we ventured back to our room, and just hung out!
The next morning marked Mother’s Day. I was grateful to have been able to spend the morning enjoying snuggles and breakfast in bed!
Mother’s Day brought with it many surprises. My husband and the kids arranged for me to spend a morning at the serene Christienne Fallsview Spa (located on the 14th floor of Sheraton on the Falls). At Christienne I enjoyed my first-ever Stress Relief Massage. My RMT, Leslie, was nothing short of amazing! She was able to pinpoint all the stresses my body had/has been experiencing. She also took the time to teach me some stretches that I should implement into my day-to-day routine.
After my spa treatments, I took the opportunity to just be. It was my “me time”. I sat at the spa, and took in the view.
I also enjoyed the amenities… Ahem… The sauna! It was a wondrous, and welcome break for this Momma!
Upon my arrival back to the room, my husband treated me to Starbucks. And then… it was sadly time to check out. Trips to Niagara Falls always seem to go by too fast!
The process of checking out was easy. You could call the front desk, check out via the TV or visit the front desk.
After checking out, we checked our luggage with the concierge and headed for an awesome lunch at Rainforest Cafe. It is generally a ritual of ours to hit up Hard Rock, but we opted for something different this time around. Bear in mind — both the Hard Rock and Rainforest Cafe are situated on Falls Avenue Resort.
The kids adored watching the animals come to life at Rainforest Cafe. Though I can’t say they were too enamored by the storms that took place every 30 minutes.
Mother’s Day wound up being fairly stormy, so we didn’t get to venture out and do all the touristy things that we would have liked to do. After lunch we found ourselves back at Fallsview Indoor Waterpark until we decided to call it yet another successful staycation, and head home.
