I’m on a wee bit of a health kick at the moment. I fell off the bandwagon when my Nana passed away in December. At that point in time, I literally just ceased my regular workout schedule… literally just threw it out the window, and became an emotional eater. I worked so hard in 2012 to shed the excess pounds, and they were slowly but surely working themselves back on. I knew I had to change. I was (and am) better than this. I worked so hard to better myself, put my best foot forward. As I should continue to do so.

Rewind to two weeks ago, I began eating cleaner and started working out 5 to 6 days a week. I have to say, I’m feeling amazing. For that reason, I’m devoting this weeks Good Eats Friday post to healthy dishes… Ok… Maybe one cheat dish will make it’s way into the mix too.

Over the last year I have heard so much about Kale Chips. Do you think I have ever attempted making them? Nope. I really should though. I’m a snackaholic at heart. Chips are my pitfall. Kale Chips may just be the perfect healthy solution!

Life in Pleasantville shares a great post on her website highlighting how to make kale chips.

A lot of people I know tend to cringe when I pipe up about my love for green smoothies. Green smoothies are a powerhouse of wonderful antioxidants and phytonutrients. I make a point to enjoy one each afternoon with my dear son. Yes, my two year old son shares my love for green smoothies!!

Eat Whole Be Vital features a delicious recipe for a Chocolate Green Smoothie on her website. The whole family is bound to enjoy this healthy beverage, including the kids!

Each week I try to incorporate a cheat day into the cycle. On my cheat day I can eat or drink anything within reason. Doesn’t this Homemade Skillet Pizza featured on A Bit of Momsense seem just perfect for a cheat day?

I can so relate (unfortunately) with the emotional eating. I lost over 70lbs over the last 2 years and then just stopped everything one day. I’ve gained most of the weight back in a few months and its so depressing. Its a cycle in my life that I do this, but I’ve never gained back so quickly. Thanks for the recipe for Kale Chips, I’m going to give them a try.

Congrats on your weight loss and I can relate to your emotional eating. Last year I lost 35 pounds and put back on 10 pounds in just a few months when we had some family issues. I’m back on track now and hoping to lose the 10 plus 10 more. Keep at it, we’ll succeed. I haven’t tried the kale chips yet, but I do eat kale once a week.

Very interesting recipe. I do not need to lose much weight, but would love to get more toned!
