Wow… Has it ever been a busy few days?!
On Christmas Eve, I woke up with no voice. It was literally nothing more than a whisper. I wound up heading to urgent care where they assessed me for pneumonia, strep and bronchitis. Sure enough, I had strep. Thanks Santa for the early unwanted Christmas present! I’m allergic to penicillin, so they prescribed me biaxin. I’m finally beginning to feel a lot better and a little more human. Being sick over the holidays is truly the pits, but I made the most of it. The children’s excitement on Christmas Day was enough to put me in the spirit, even if I did spend the day in my PJs on the couch. It was a quiet Christmas, which I loved!
Our Christmas shenanigans aren’t over yet. We are hosting the final Christmas gathering of 2012 tomorrow with my Mom. It will be a blast. I’m kind of bummed that my Nana won’t be here to join us, but I know she is looking down on us from up above. Her spirit will be felt.
One of the best Christmas presents I received this year was from my mother-in-law. My Nana passed away 11 days before Christmas. I was extremely close to her, so this loss has been very hard for me to swallow. Part of me still doesn’t want to believe she is gone. Anyway, my Mother-in-law took it upon herself to track down a picture of my Nana and put it in a beautiful locket for me. She gave me the locket, and told me that she wanted me to always be able to have my Nana close to my heart. Word can’t even describe how appreciative I am of this thoughtful gift. It has brought me a lot of comfort on the hardest of days.
Truth be told, this Christmas has been pretty bittersweet. I’m making due. I’ll be offline until New Years Eve enjoying the remainder of the holiday season with my family. I’ll really need this time with them right now.
