Some of my favorite childhood memories are those of memories I made while spending time in spring break and summer camps. My parents where always looking for ways to keep me busy during my downtime from school. I was a child who easily grew bored of staying at home. Let’s face it… The days felt very long when they were at work. My parents enlisted me in several day camps and some overnight camps. I loved it! I got to socialize, make new friends, build on independence and teamwork skills and most of all I got to have fun!
I can’t wait for my children to be at the age that I can enroll them in summer camps. It’s a great way for them to learn to spread their wings and soar. Not only that the memories they’ll make are priceless.
I can still remember my first overnight camp experience. The counselors had coaxed our group of camp mates into their cabin after an amazing pow-wow around the campfire. We were super hyper and over the moon full of giggles. We all lay in our bunks belting out the words to “Singing in the Rain” and “Gumdrops, Lollipops and Rainbows” over and over. It’s such a laughable moment to look back on.

Camps need information about your child’s skills and challenges to put strategies into place to ensure a successful and stress free week for both your child and the camp.
