Since becoming a Mom, I’ve gained many new friendships. Most of which were friendships formed online. Don’t laugh. I’m serious.

When Cameron was a newborn, I slept all the time never slept. While my husband and daughter were in dream land, I would sit up night after night with my cluster feeding baby. I was exhausted. I spent a lot of time on my BlackBerry surfing social media websites just to keep myself busy. Twitter was my saving grace. It always seemed like someone was up at the same time as me. Someone who I could talk to. That’s how I got to know: RadioRedhead, PattySullivan, ParentClub, sarahcasm and 5sshj5. All 5 ladies were either new Moms or expectant mothers battling the good ol’ pregnancy insomnia. We had so much in common. They were so supportive.

After several nights of continually chatting, we came to form the #ZombieMoms hashtag on March 26, 2011. The hashtag made it easier for us to track our conversations. The #ZombieMoms quickly became an internationally known hashtag. Women were gathering and chatting to vent in frustration and share in triumphs of motherhood knowing someone would always be there. Someone was always listening. The #ZombieMoms quickly became my online Mommy group. There’s no simpler way to describe it.

It’s now been a year since #ZombieMoms originated and it’s still going strong. You don’t just have to be a new Mom to join in on the conversations. It’s open to all parents exhibiting zombiesque qualities and whom are heavily reliant on the daily dose of caffeine. I prefer mine to be administered through IV drip.

I don’t know what I would have done without this lovely group of women in my life. They kept me sane in my times of sleep deprivation. Even my husband, couldn’t do that! 😉

If you’re an expectant mom, new mom, sleep deprived mom or just a MOMbie in general check the #ZombieMoms out on Twitter. We’d love to get to know you better!

Happy 1st Anniversary #ZombieMoms!!!

That is a really neat story, how cool to be in on the inception of something so helpful to others! Congrats and as soon as I have a few minutes I’ll check in too 🙂
