The weather was down right perfect this past weekend. It was mild and full of sunshine. I would love to say spring has sprung, albeit there is a week to go until I can officially declare it.

Sunday morning, we rounded up the troops and headed over to a local conservation area for pancakes, a hike and visit in the sugar bush. Oh the mapley goodness!
My littles were more excited for the pancakes than anything else. Can’t say I blame them! The wait for the pancakes became a little painful. Long lines and a slight temper tantrum. It was totally worth the wait!
After our pancake meal and a slight snafu… (my 13 month old graciously dumped a cup of maple syrup all over me)… we were on our way for a hike in the sugar bush.
I had to stop and have my husband take an updated picture of me. Y’know so I could document my recent weight loss.

There were a few different stations set up for the children. We had lots of fun listening to stories and learning about the history of Purple Woods and the sugar bush.

Cadence really came out of her shell this year. Last year when we visited the sugar bush our stay was short. She didn’t care for it and was quite introverted. She was far from that this year. Amazing how much our little ones can blossom. She had a blast!

Hard to believe this little man was only just a newborn when we visited last year.  Wow!

We had a fabulous day. It was the distraction I needed. The sunshine, laughter and sugar really helped too!

My daughter’s class is doing the same thing next week, it’s a marker for our family…means spring is coming

What a beautiful day to spend in the bush. I love maple syrup festivals, a real sign of spring.
