In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie,

         In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

         In Flanders fields.

Erica Ehm from Yummy Mummy Club said it the best today on her Facebook page:

“A Veteran is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank cheque payable to their country for an amount up to and including their life. That is beyond honour and there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact. Remember to take a moment of silence today at 11:00am to honour our soldiers and their families.”

Today, we remember those who have sacrificed their lives for us, and those currently serving our country. Lest we forget.
