So despite my lack of sleep I seem to have hit a high in energy this afternoon. As soon as I got home from work I decided to give the house a good cleaning… And by good cleaning… I mean that I literally have been scrubbing the house from top to bottom for the last hour and half, and trust me the house is no where near done yet. Haha. I want it to be sparkling! Which is going to take some time to achieve. Trust me… if you lived with my husband you would understand. Haha. If he didn’t live with me, he would be living in a pigsty. Sad, but true reality.
In between my cleaning… I also baked a cake. My work is having a Branch Employee Summer BBQ on Friday night, and I offered to contribute dessert… So I am making a Kahula Trifle. The trifle is always a hit at the get togethers I attend, so it is always my go to dish. Haha. I just hope that this trifle turns out okay because I usually make it with chocolate cake, and this time I had make it with vanilla cake. I’m sure it should be fine though.
Here is the recipe for Chocolate Kahlua Trifle for those interested…
1 devil’s food cake mix
1 and 1/2 cups Kahlua
1 large box of Jello Pudding Mix
3 and 1/2 cups milk
1 and 1/2 containers of Cool Whip (thawed)
Prepare, bake and cool cake in 9 x13 inch pan according to directions. Poke holes into cake with fork and pour 1 cup of Kahlua over the cake. Refrigerate the cake for several hours or over night. Once the cake has been refrigerated for a few hours, you can then begin the remainder of the prep. In a large bowl prepare pudding mix with 3 and 1/2 cups milk and 1/2 cup Kahula. Let the pudding stand as per package instructions. Once set, you may then begin preparing the trifle layers. I first cut the cake into small cubes. Layer the trifle in a large bowl as follows: cake, pudding, cool whip. There should be three layers. The end layer should be cool whip. Enjoy!
Anyway I am babbling, and I should get back to it. Chat with you all soon!
