Motherhood can be very hectic at the best of times. As a Mom of 4, I can vouch that it can be a struggle to find time for myself. However, over the past year it has been a work in progress.

Each day I try to find a way to devote a little bit of the day to me. After all I deserve the break. I spend so much of the day tending to the needs of my family that it can be so easy to fall into the rhythm of back burnering myself and I absolutely refuse to do that.

A lot of people often ask me how I manage to maintain my sanity with four little ones at home, and honestly I have to say it is quite easy. You just have to focus on finding the right balance.

Tips for Balancing Me Time Through the Chaos of Motherhood

Take a bath. Each night when my husband gets home from work I will often head out to the hot tub for a quick soak or if the weather is uncooperative, I will often head up for a bath. Nothing that require a lot of time, but rather allots me a 30 minute break to unwind from my day without interruption.

Read a book. This one goes hand-in-hand with taking a bath. Why not unwind in the bath with a good book? I am a huge lover of suspense novels. One of my recent faves is The Cutaway by Christina Kovac. A book that focuses on the disappearance of a beautiful young attorney after she leaves her husband after a dispute in a restaurant.  A news producer, Virginia Knightley, catches wind of the disappearance when the missing persons report lands on her desk and become obsessed with the case, making it her mission to solve the case. Nothing holding her back. This book was one of those reads that you have trouble putting down. Perfect for a night of unwinding in the tub!

Go for a massage. Got a chance to leave the house? Head out and pamper yourself! We all could use a massage, especially if you are a new Mom lifting a young child day in and out. Your back and shoulders will thank you!

Exercise. Nothing beats a sweat sesh! It is a great way to build strength and shake off stress! No one ever regrets a workout!

Go for a walk. Are you a lover of nature? Head out after dinner for a quick nature walk whether it be with your family or alone. The fresh air alone will help you find your inner solace.

Take a drive. Quite often my kids will fall asleep in the car. I use this as my time to grab a coffee, crank up some of my favourite tunes and take a drive. It may not seem like a big deal, but it is really a great way to sneak in a little bit of me time during the day.

    I enjoy taking the dog for a walk, just me & her, something soothing about not having to carry on a conversation or even think.

    Hubby and I like to go for walks when we can to reconnect.
