I’ll never forget the day my husband suggested that he ask his Mom if she could watch the kids, so we could getaway for an overnight stay in Niagara Falls. It almost seemed too good to be true. I mean it had been 22 months since our last child-free night away. I never thought in a million years that she would be up for taking our 3 children for an overnight stay.

Lo and behold, she did! AND – without hesitation.

I had never been so excited leading up to a getaway. This was one getaway that I was in dire need for. My kids had been so moody in the weeks leading up the the getaway, and we had also been faced with our share of sickness… I was nearing my breaking point and just needed that escape.

An escape without interruption. An escape with adult conversation. An escape where I could eat a dinner that I didn’t cook, relish in silence and sleep in for as long as I wanted.

I got exactly that and so much more!

We started off our adventure early in the day, which made for the perfect opportunity to hope across the border and do a little shopping at a store that I miss so much… Target.

We arrived at the hotel a few years later and managed to settle in after switching rooms a few times. Yep, I became one of those people who was unimpressed with the layout of the room we received given the package we paid for.

Being that my sciatica flares up quite often we didn’t fare far from the hotel, but we did manage to get out for dinner out one of our favourite restaurants.

25-weeks-pregnant

My make-up for the evening, included COVERGIRL Outlast Moisture Mauve Lipstick, COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation, and COVERGIRL Super Size Lash Blast Waterproof (Black) Mascara.

kid-free-getaway

I loved that I actually had a reason to get gussied up for the night. Usually each day, I will do my make-up, but for no other reason than to make myself look like less of a zombie mom and more presentable. This time the reason for the make-up was worth it! Not that my husband cared though. He honestly wouldn’t even notice had I not worn make-up at all.

After dinner, we headed back to the hotel and cozied up for an evening of watching an in-room movie – The Intern – which if you haven’t seen, I highly recommend!

The next morning, we ventured over to iHop for breakfast before making the trek home to pick up our munchkins!

It is always crazy how quickly child-free nights always seem to slip right on by at lightening speed.

I really hope my husband and I can sneak in one more child-free night before our newest addition arrives in early March. A gal can only hope!

My plans for the holidays are to get together with friends and family. We are hoping for more snow so we can go sledding, have a snowball fight and make snow angels. New Years Eve plans are not made yet.

our plans are really low key, as family all live across the country. Waffles and bacon for breakfast is about the extent of it!
