Wedding season is here!

BUT – don’t tell my daughter that! Ha, ha.

If she had it her way, her Daddy and I would be renewing our vows somewhere in Mexico tomorrow. She is quite miffed that she wasn’t invited to our wedding back in 2007. You know 1.5 years ahead of when she would have been conceived. She has this dream of being a flower girl or junior bridesmaid while watching her Mommy – me – walk down the aisle on a beautiful beach in Mexico. She dreams of the day she can see her Mommy dressed like a princess. It’s sweet… really.

Cadence has never had the chance of attending a wedding, but she has two go-to hairstyles that I have commonly done for her for dance recitals, special occasions and that time she tried on my wedding dress.

Before any big event when I know I will be styling Cadence’s hair, I always wash her hair a day in advance using Kandoo 2-in-1 Conditioning Shampoo with Vitamin E. I always find the hair is so much easier to style when using day old hair rather than freshly cleaned hair.

Before beginning any hairstyle, I will always spritz her hair with Kandoo Detangling Spray and brush through with a paddling brush to ensure all knots are easily combed through. Nothing is worse than trying to still a child’s hair who is flinching from the pain of brushing out knots.

The common hairstyles I will flock to are loose curls or a classic ponytail with curls. These hairstyles are easy to do, and perfect wedding hairstyles for flower girls or just little girls in general.

Classic Ponytail with Curls

  1. Spritz hair with Kandoo Kids Detangling Spray. Brush hair through with paddle brush.
  2. Heat up curling iron or wand to medium-high heat.
  3. Brush all hair away from face, gathering hair in hands and pulling into a ponytail. To create a classic ponytail, hair should be ear level between the crown and nape of the neck. Secure ponytail with elastic.
  4. Begin by curling 0.5 to 1-inch strands of hair. Hold the hair around curling wand for 30 seconds before releasing. Spritz curl with hairspray to hold.
  5. Continue the above-mentioned step until all hair is curled.

Loose Curls

  1. Spritz hair with Kandoo Kids Detangling Spray. Brush hair through with paddle brush.
  2. Heat curling iron or curling wand to medium-high heat.
  3. Pull hair into a bun atop your head, leaving 1/3 of your hair down.
  4. Begin by curling 1 to 1.5-inch strands of hair. Curl hair away from the face, holding hair in the wand around the wand for 30 seconds before releasing. Spritz with hairspray to hold.
  5. Once the first layer is done, bring down another 1/3 of your layer hair from bun and curl. Repeat this process until all hair is loosely curled.
