I feel like a bit of a broken record, but today I’m going to chat with you more about seasonal allergies, and provide you with seven simple solutions to help kids manage seasonal allergies.

If you haven’t gathered by now, my family suffers from seasonal allergies. I take the burnt of it in the Spring and Fall. My daughters take the brunt of it in the Spring.

When seasonal allergies strike, it can be so tempting to just stick indoors. However, the reality is that you cannot let seasonal allergies alone consume yours or your child’s life. There are many preventative measures you can take to help your child manage their season allergies.

Take allergy medication and/or seasonal allergy tinctures. Help your child manage their symptoms by administering allergy medication to them prior to heading outdoors or into a situation where you know their symptoms may flare up.

Save the sleeve. Keep a stock pile of Boogie Wipes on hand and in reach of those little hands. Boogie Wipes are a great alternative to your usual facial tissue, and help make dealing with nasal irritation more manageable.

Use Saline Spray. Saline spray is a gentle and effective way to help relieve allergy symptoms. One simple spray into each nostril will help clear allergens from the passageways. For children, use a saline spray that won’t be harsh on their wee nostrils, like Boogie Mist. Boogie Mist is available in grape and fresh scent.

Wash Up. Kids love to spend a lot of time outdoors. Digging in dirt, planting flowers, playing at the park, you name it. The world is their oyster. There for the taking. After the kids return inside from outdoor play, remind them to wash up with Kandoo Hand Soap. By washing their hands, they will be preventing the spread of any germs or allergens that their hands might have been bearing. The Kandoo Hand Soap is great because the foam is bright coloured, which allows the kids to know that they have adequately cleaned their hands.

Wash Hair Before Bed. After a day of outdoor play, have the kids hop in the bath for a quick scrub-a-dub-dub and good hair wash with Kandoo Scrub Your Hair 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner. You may not realize it, but pollen quickly builds up on the scalp while outdoors. Washing your child’s hair before bed will help prevent the allergens from spreading on to your child’s pillow ensuring they have a good night sleep that isn’t disrupted by those pesky seasonal allergies.

Stay Hydrated. Stay on top of the fluids your child intakes over the day. Without enough water the body can’t continue with it’s normal functions. Hydration is key. It helps flush irritants from your body, but also helps thin out your nasal mucus.

Use an Air Purifier. Air purifiers have filters that can help remove pollutants and allergens, like mold, pet dander and pollen, from the home. They are designed to clean the air in your home, thus improving the air quality that your family breathes. Keep an air purifier in a common area of your home, and you will see how quickly it can help symptoms improve.

Now that you know how to manage those pesky seasonal allergies, I encourage you to get outdoors with your family and get on with enjoying these Outdoor Spring Family Activities.
