One of my biggest challenges as a parent is constantly staying on top of my family, and ensuring they get everything they need on the health and fitness front. It can be a constant battle with staying on top of what we eat while also trying to maintain an active lifestyle.
Ensuring the optimum health of my family is my primary goal each day. There may only be so many hours each day, but I make a point to allot at least a minimum of 60 minutes a day for physical activity. My family and I also try to steer clear of junk food and sugar-filled treats. Thankfully, my children much rather munch on a bowl of popcorn, carrots or apple slices when the mood strikes them.
However, there are periods during the year where it can be hard to remain accountable. The months of October through December are particularly more challenging. With Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas, it can be hard to avoid indulging in scrumptious treats. I have a bowl of chocolate Halloween treats screaming my names, as I write this very article.
That being said, it is fitting that November is also known as, World Diabetes Month.
While Diabetes may not impact any of my family members, there are many supplements we take to help balance our blood sugar levels. Cinnamon and Fenugreek being two of these supplements.
Cinnamon is great and can easily be added to just about anything. If you find that you feel off balance through the day. It is more than likely due to a roller coaster of blood sugar highs and lows. Cinnamon can helping to control blood sugar with its amazing insulin regulating properties while also adding spice and everything nice to your life.
Fenugreek is a full spectrum digestive tonic, used for centuries to help stimulate the appetite, aid digestion, soothe indigestion, ease constipation, balance glucose levels, assist with breast milk production and help reduce blood lipid levels. Fenugreek is an antioxidant with extremely beneficial effects on the activities of the liver and the pancreas. While I will normally use Fenugreek when I feel like my breast milk supply could use a little boost. I love all the additional benefits I reap from the supplement.
What is great about the both of these supplements is that you can hide them in just about anything. Personally, I like to add them to my morning ND Shake, oatmeal or smoothie.
