One of my all-time favourite board games during my childhood was THE GAME OF LIFE. I remember spending countless summers at the cottage spending hour upon hour playing the board game with my friends. I was quite privy to the message behind the game.

No matter where you end up in life, you can succeed.

Life can be full of many curve balls and challenges. I like to look at these challenges as a way to mold our experiences in life and give us the momentum to keep on going. These challenges are the ones that we learn from and grow from. One of my biggest challenges to date was when I took the leap into motherhood.

Prior to becoming a Mom, I had this whole vision in my mind of how I planned to parent. I wasn’t going to co-sleep. I was going to breastfeed for one year, no less. I would sleep when the baby slept. My house would always remain spotless. Yep. I was completely unaware of the chaos that can ensue when being a new parent.

It was a huge reality check for me when I gave birth to my first born. Dinner quickly became takeout, as I found myself nursing and snuggling my newborn on the couch many evenings. Exclusively pumping eventually became my way of life. The laundry piled. The dishes sat on the counter. Nothing got accomplished other than bonding, but that was OK. All that mattered to me in the end was that my little one was happy and thriving.

My maternity leave with my first-born flew by. People really aren’t kidding when they say the years go by faster once children enter the picture. They really do. So make the most of them!

I made the choice to leave my full-time job at the end of my maternity leave and become a work-at-home Mom. For a while there I had trouble nailing down an exact career path to follow. I briefly owned a digital media and event planning business, ran a home daycare, and eventually found my calling in the blogging and social media marketing world.

Life has been a journey. It has had many hiccups, many amazing moments, and I can’t wait to see how my personal journey down this game of life continues to unfold in the years to come.
