Have you ever noticed that you tend to crave certain things more when you can’t have them?
I have wanted nothing more lately than to indulge in a huge piece of decadent cheesecake, a mouth watering tenderloin coated in red wine au jus, and a drool-worthy poutine. Unfortuntately, I have been confined to a liquid diet. One that consists of Cream of Wheat, apple sauce, greek yogurt, ice cream, Spaghetti O’s, scrambled eggs and various smoothies. If you hadn’t guessed it already… I was oh-so-lucky enough to endure oral surgery on the weekend, and let me tell you I have been miserable and in a lot of pain ever since.
While my diet may be the pits lately, and I am finally losing the postpartum weight that has been taunting me in a way that I hadn’t anticipated… I am trying to make the most of it. By trying new things and trying to spruce up soft foods. Who says eating a soft food diet has to be boring? Well, it is, but I am trying to look on the bright side here.
One of my latest additions to my morning breakfast routine is a Blueberry Cheesecake Smoothie. Who doesn’t love the idea of having dessert for breakfast? I know I surely do! This smoothie is decadent, full of protein and healthy. A smoothie that is guaranteed to satisfy a sweet tooth without comprising your daily calorie intake. A true winner in my eyes.
