Having a baby is a life changing event. In an effort to help expectant parents get ready to make the transition to parenthood, Well.ca, surveyed 1,000 new mothers about their fourth-trimester experiences with interesting results.

  • Forty-five per cent of  new moms indicated that they were over-stocked with baby items such as clothing and toys.
  • Twenty-four per cent of those surveyed had to run out to buy things they didn’t anticipate needing, something that can be challenging with a new baby with 50 per cent indicating they found it difficult to get out of the house.
  • Forty-six per cent of new moms were scrambling for essentials.

As a result of the new parent survey, Well.ca compiled the top 100 Essential Items new moms actually need..

I am one of those forty-six per cent of parents who found themselves scrambling after bringing home baby. The only difference is I never brought my new baby home. She was born at home. After the birth of each one of my children, I found my baby and new Mom essential needs varied greatly. Which is to be expected. What I never anticipated though was the stress of being under prepared.

When my first two children were born, I always found that I was scrambling to get out of the house to buy more diapers, diaper rash creams or colic relief tinctures.

After the birth of Everly, my new Mom and baby needs were much different. I was well-stocked in the diaper department. It was when we ran into breastfeeding issues that I found myself scrambling to find time to get out and purchase nipple creams, breast pads, and a good electric breast pump.

Well.ca offers the ability to shop from a wide range of essential products for baby and mom at any time of day or night, which helps make things easier for parents (like me) who find themselves scrambling after bringing home baby.  Not only that they offer free express delivery too.  An online store like Well.ca is a dream for me; a new Mom who struggles to get out to the store with 3 kids in tow, and doesn’t want to have to worry about hustling out of the house once the kids have gone to bed (if they go to bed… heaven knows they fight bedtime).
