It is so funny how each on of your children can have so many similarities, but yet polar opposite personalities. As the time goes on I am really beginning to notice those differences in the personalities of each one of my children.
My eldest daughter is a born leader, but at the same time she is very reserved, guarded and extremely sensitive. She takes a lot to heart, but is quite driven to succeed. Refusing to let anyone come in the way of her and her dreams! Heck – just a few weeks ago she insisted that the imaginative play area at school be turned in to a birthing center, full of babies and all the tools an OB or midwife would need to assess a newborn baby. My daughter is passionate about anything and everything babies. This interest exuded itself in January when she attended one of my prenatal appointments at the midwifery clinic, and has since blossomed.
My son on the other hand is strong-willed. His way or the highway! For the most part he is a happy-go-lucky kid. A follower. He loves to be in the company of others and follow in their footsteps. You can bet your bottom dollar that whatever his big sister is doing, he is always right at her beckon call and/or following her around like a shadow.
My youngest daughter is only two months old, so we still have a lot of bonding to do before I can adequately measure her personality. However, I can tell you that as a baby she is a lot different than her older sister. She is a Momma’s girl. Very loving and oh-so-smiley. She always wants to be held close, and doesn’t thrive off of independence (just yet). Overall she is a dream baby. Barely fusses or cries, which is more than I can say about her older siblings when they were her age. Just don’t put Miss. Evie down and all is glorious.
For the first little while after Everly’s birth I had a hard time adjusting to life with 3 kids. Can you blame me? The routine I had grown to know and love had been thrown awry, and I had to adjust to having a baby that always wanted to be in my arms. You won’t hear me complaining about the overabundance of baby snuggles I get to enjoy day in and day out, but there comes a point when you need your hands to be free.
I have always been driven by attachment parenting. After a lot of trial and error, I find it is a parenting style that has always worked for our family. This time it is no different. This is where baby wearing enters the picture. In order to keep up with the daily battles that life throws my way I find myself continually styling my life by outfitting myself in a baby sling. It allows me to reap the benefits of being a hands-free Momma, while being able to be hands-on with my older children and also maintaining the happiness of my newborn who continues to enjoy the comfort of being kept close by Mom.
There are so many benefits of baby wearing, it:
- promotes bonding and establishes good lines of communication,
- promotes physical development,
- offers convenience,
- soothes fussy babies,
- “humanizes” babies earlier and promotes learning,
- provides your baby with security and comfort,
- helps establish the supply of a breastfeeding mother, as mom’s level of oxytocin and prolactin is increased when baby is kept close by Mom most of the time. Making breastfeeding seem like less of a chore, but rather easier for both baby and Mom.
- lowers the risk of postpartum depression,
- offers many health benefits for Mom. Can’t find a time to sneak in that work out? No worries! Wearing your baby burns a great amount of calories, as it offers the dual benefit of low impact cardio and “weight lifting”.
Just last week, I had a very rough day. The laundry was piling up. My older children were moody as ever. I just felt like I couldn’t catch a break. When my husband arrived home, I bundled up the baby in my Hot Sling AP and headed out for a walk. I needed some fresh air to clear my head. Upon my return, the baby was sound asleep in the sling and my husband was putting my other children to bed. Perfect! I finally had the free time to fold the four mountains of laundry that had been stock piling in my bedroom.
Those who know me know I can’t handle it when my house becomes disorganized and cluttered. It bugs me. So you can imagine how excited I was to get the laundry sorted and out of the sight. It made this Momma very happy! I have the Hot Sling AP to thank for that. It has truly been my saving grace these past few weeks!
I have always found the Hot Slingvery easy to use for the most part. My little munchkin doesn’t appreciate me having to froggy her legs in order to comfortably position her in the sling. When she doesn’t cooperate it can put me at disadvantage when trying to use the sling without the assistance of another.
The Hot Sling AP is available in two sizes, and also features two adjustable dummy-proof buckles. These buckles allow the user to adjust the sling to ensure the user has optimal comfort and support when the sling while being worn and carrying baby. These adjustable buckles are a feature that I love the most about my Hot Sling AP.
I had a sling that I tried to wear with my firstborn, and I was always so hesitant because it felt like I had no support. I don’t notice that lack of support with the Hot Sling AP, and feel comforted knowing my baby is safely nestled in the sling while being worn. There is no worse feeling than thinking your baby isn’t safe in the carrier. Safety isn’t a concern with the Hot Sling.
My Hot Sling AP has made it easy for me to enjoy all that life has to offer! I can get out and enjoy the outdoors, play soccer with my kids all while wearing my baby, flourishing a beautiful bond with each one of my children, and being fashionable while doing so. Like I mentioned above, there are so many perks to baby wearing and for that reason I am so glad that I have carrier that will grow with my baby as the days and months go on.
