Last week I introduced you to the recipe book,  Get Naked in the Kitchen, and shared with you a nom-spiring Strawberry, Spinach and Candied Pecan Salad recipe. Showing you inspiring ways to undress nutrition. As well as a fun approach to eat your way towards a healthier lifestyle.

With the weekend in full spring it is so easy to fall off the bandwagon. Especially if you have a function to attend or host. While cheat days are something that should be enjoyed every once and a while. Heck – I had a cheat day yesterday. The java chip frappucino and sriracha chicken pizza were well worth those extra calories! The last thing you want to do is fall into a vicious cycle. You know the one where you are like oh – I’ll just have a taste of this or a little of that. Trust me – I know how easy it is to couple cheat day after cheat day to the point where it just becomes a habit.

Weekends don’t have to be all about breaking healthy habits. You can stay on track and host that playoff party!

Briana Santoro from The Naked Label recently shared with me one of her favourite appetizers to take to a potluck or put out when she hosts a get together. This dip is easy to make, easy on the waistline and those bun-cakes.

33. Goat Cheese Dip

By: Briana Santoro

  • 10 ½ oz (300 g) soft goat cheese
  • 4 dried figs (alternatively you can use fresh ones)
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp honey

  1. Cut the goat cheese into ½ inch slices and lay out on a serving platter.
  2. Chop up the figs and pecans and sprinkle on top of the goat cheese.
  3. In a jar mix the balsamic vinegar and honey. Shake vigorously until well combined.
  4. Pour the balsamic mixture over the goat cheese, fig, and pecan dish. Serve with crackers (I use Mary’s Crackers) and enjoy!

Serves 6

I have a group of girlfriends in Toronto who would classify this hors d’oeuvre as their all-time favorite. I brought it to a girls’ night one time and now every time I’m invited over the invitation accompanies a request to bring the favorite goat cheese dish! Let’s just say, when this dish is being consumed there is a whole lot of mmmmm’ing, awwww’ing, and ooooooo’ing going on. Be prepared to fall in love!
