“How are you feeling?”

“Wow – you must be about ready to give birth!”

“Are you OK? Are you sure?”

All are questions and / or comments I have heard a lot lately.

With 47 days to go (give or take)… these questions are certainly expected. I’m sure as the days go on I will only hear more of the same, old question! If only I didn’t have to feel like a broken record when responding. Ha, ha. Honestly – a lot of what I tell people is along the same lines…

“As for some fatigue, insomnia and lower back discomfort… I really can’t complain!”

It’s the truth. Overall this pregnancy has been pretty smooth and easy on me. Knock on wood – it continues on in this direction!

This past weekend my amazing husband arranged a getaway for us. We had the chance to escape to Niagara Falls and enjoy a child-free weekend. A weekend that was treated as a mini babymoon. As well as, an early 30th birthday celebration for me. I’ll be full-term on my birthday, so really wasn’t keen on travelling too far from home at that point in time. This getaway made for the perfect opportunity to celebrate my birthday a few weeks ahead of time.

The weekend was just what the doctor had ordered, and that much more.

The week leading up to our getaway was a very trying one for me to say the least. My daughter had been really testing my patience. I wasn’t sleeping well. All I really truly needed was a break. A chance to relax, recharge and clear my head.

We arrived in Niagara and checked into the hotel in the early afternoon. Upon our arrival my husband and I simply did none other than sit, relax, enjoy the view and chat. You can only imagine the delight it was to enjoy an adult conversation with no interruptions!

Later that evening, we headed out for a night on the town.

We found ourselves enjoying dinner at The Outback. I really wish they hadn’t pulled the majority of their chain out of Canada. However, I’ll regress, as that is a whole other story in and of itself.

The evening seemed to slip on by. Before we knew it a new day was upon us. A day that brought with it a ton of pampering. My husband had booked me in for a day at the spa, complete with a prenatal relaxation massage.

The last prenatal massage I had was when I was 16 weeks. At the time I was still able to lie comfortably on my stomach. It was quite the different experience having to lie on my side, hugging a pillow while being massaged. It was pure bliss, none of the less.

33 weeks, measuring approx. 2 weeks ahead.

My family has traveled to Niagara on many occasions over the years. Each trip has always been a different experience with a varying itinerary. While my husband and I didn’t get out to check out the attractions or the sights on this particular getaway, the weekend was nothing short of perfection!

Thanks! Apparently I could have done a full 360 panoramic shot, but I figured no one would care to take a peek inside the hotel room too. Hahaha! Got to love how technology has evolved over the years. 🙂

Thanks! Sometimes you don’t realize how much you could really use a break until you are away from the everyday hustle and bustle. 🙂

Awe – thank you! It really has helped that I seem to only crave healthy, non-processed food this pregnancy. Spinach, broccoli and healthy smoothies seem to all be staples in my day to day as of late. Strange I know, but it certainly has it’s benefit. 🙂

so jealous. I’d settle for just the pregnancy massage. I’m due in about 19 days and feeling about the same. can’t sleep at night and then tired all day. no back pain though, I’ve got my aches in the hips. what I’m hearing a lot of is “awe, you’re nesting” anytime I mention doing anything remotely domestic like cleaning, organizing or cooking.
