The holiday season is in full swing. Between decorating around the home, shopping for holiday presents and attending holiday parties… we try not to get lost in the flurry of busy times that the holiday season presents us, but rather also find time to give back.

I’ll never forget last Christmas when my daughter (who was 3 at the time) and I were out finishing up the last of our Christmas shopping. I had a bit of spare change, so I gave it to my daughter and told her she could do with it what she pleased. Whether she treat herself to a TimBit, put it in her piggy bank or donate it. The option was hers. Upon exiting the store, Cadence quickly started bee lining it towards the Savalation Army donation bin where she placed her change. She felt a little discouraged because she was too short to reach the donation bucket, but nothing could ever beat her proud smile after knowing she was helping the less fortunate that holiday season.

For the past two years we have also made a point to attend lunch with Santa at a local restaurant. It’s an opportunity for the children to enjoy the company of Santa, sneak in the photo ops, but also an opportunity to donate  to a local charity. My daughter always makes a point to set aside some of her money from her piggy bank to tuck away in the donation bowl at these lunches. Shes loves knowing that we are coming together as a family and as a community, and spreading the joy during the holiday season. She is truly a selfless little girl, and I love that about her!

How do you share the joy each holiday season?

A joy to share

For the second year in a row,  KINDER® has partnered with Children’s Miracle Network with the “A Joy To Share”program.  The “A Joy to Share” program is one of the ways KINDER® is helping bring joy to families this holiday season. As families come together this holiday, it is a wonderful opportunity to teach our little ones (and loved ones) about what it means to help others.  This isn’t just a donation – but a call to action for Canadian moms and children to create a greeting card as a means to share some holiday joy to  children and their families at Children’s Miracle Network hospitals this holiday season.

I recently sat down with my daughter and created a holiday greeting card through the KINDER® Facebook Page. Here is her creation…

By creating a personalized greeting card with your child Kinder will donate $1.00* to Children’s Miracle Network on your behalf. I couldn’t imagine a better initiative to help share the joy this holiday season.
*up to $25,000.

To create your own greeting card visit, the Kinder Canada Facebook Page.
