From a very young age my children have shown interest in fitness. I’ll never forget that one Summer day when I was playing in the backyard with my children when my daughter exclaimed, “Mommy, I workout! I have strong muscles!“. It was at that point I knew that my active lifestyle was beginning to influence and inspire my children.

My children have since taken to working out alongside me. They love to mimic my actions, pretending to lift lightweights, perform basic yoga poses and partake in moderate cardio circuits. My children are my personal cheerleaders! I have to say I find it very motivating.

My daughter has a personality that is much like mine. She has always been very athletic in nature with a love for all things dance and yoga.

In September of 2012, we enrolled her in her first ballet class, and she immediately took to it! No matter the mood she is in, dancing always brings a smile to her face. It makes her happy, which makes the annual fees for her lessons so worth it!

When she isn’t in attendance at dance class, you will often find my daughter at home twirling around our family room rocking a tiara and tutu pretending she is at some lavish ball.

Another favourite past-time of hers is joining me in my bedroom on Sunday mornings to partake in some Yoga practice. This always makes for a lot of fun and tons of laughs. For that reason my little girl was so thrilled when Jill Yogawear reached out to me to see if I would be interested in reviewing some of their product line. They supplied my daughter with the yoga jacket, high / low yoga top, and knit yoga legging.

We ventured out last Sunday prior to our morning yoga session for a lovely walk in the rain. The temperatures were abnormally mild for November, and the mist from the rain showers was refreshing. My daughter quite enjoyed running up and down the path, splish-splash-sploshing away in all the rain puddles. In her words, she felt so free!

Jill Yogawear-2

It’s not often that we can find yoga wear that fits my daughter. She is petite for her age. The items she was provided from Jill Yogawear were a little roomy, but not too loose that she was swimming in them. It’s a big deal when she can find leggings that fit to her teensy-tiny waist! As you can tell by the way she is running around in the pictures, the Jill Yogawear knit leggings fit her just fine, warranting a touch of room for growth.

Jill Yogawear-1

Not only has my daughter taken to wearing the yoga gear on her “down days” as she likes to call them. The days when she doesn’t have an invitation to the ball at the Snow Queen’s Castle. She has also taken to wearing her yoga wear over her dance bodysuit and leotards before and after her lessons. She loves the overall comfort the outfit provides. I can’t say I blame her. If it was socially acceptable, I would live in my yoga pants daily! In fact on most weekdays… that is what you will find me sporting!

We just make “activity” part of our normal everyday lives e.g. walking home from school, to get groceries, to go to the bank etc, and then stopping to play in the park on our way back, plus choosing active things to do on our family time e.g. hiking, biking, swimming. She just doesn’t know how to be inactive, as we have always built fitness into our regular routines.
