I’ve been trying to focus on eating healthier over the last little while. While I am normally a fairly active person, I don’t always make the healthiest choices when it comes to meals.  This is something I’m trying to work on, especially now that I am pregnant with my third.

So naturally when I heard about the latest line of products that Dempster’s had introduced, I was excited. As a person who frequently craves whole wheat toast with peanut butter, Dempster’s THINS is a great alternative!

Dempsters Thins Bread

Dempster’s THINS has 50% less calories than the leading whole wheat bread. Seems pretty unreal, right?! But it’s true! Even though you may be eating lighter, the bread still tastes as delicious as ever! If anything it’s just thinner!

One of my favourite meals to make using Dempster’s THINS Sliced Bread is Bacon & Tomato Egg Melts. My husband looked at me sideways the first time I made these. Simply for that fact that I have serious aversion to eggs at the moment. This seems to be the only way I can stomach eggs without feeling absolutely repulsed by them. Probably because the eggs are sandwiched between a slice of Dempster’s THIN bread, tomato, bacon and cheese.

I’ve included the recipe below, so that you can try making this recipe for yourself. Trust me when I say – you will love it!
Bacon And Tomato Egg Melt

Bacon & Tomato Egg Melts (1 serving)

Ingredients

1 slice of Dempster’s THINS Sliced Bread
2 cherry tomatoes (sliced thinly)
1 slice of Schneiders Country Naturals Bacon (cooked, cut into bite size pieces)
1 egg
Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Miracle Whip or Margarine (optional)

Directions

  1. Cook egg to your liking. Personally I like to prepare mine so they are served over-easy.
  2. While your eggs are cooking, lightly toast your slice of Dempster’s THIN bread.
  3. Butter or add a light coating of Miracle Whip to your toast.
  4. Top the toast with your egg.
  5. Dress the egg with the slice tomato and sliced bacon.
  6. Top with cheese. Personally I love A LOT of cheese!
  7. Broil until the cheese is melted.
  8. Enjoy!

This recipe also serves up really well on Dempster’s THINS Bagels.
