I was a gal who grew up in a home with a father who worked in the automotive industry. My Dad’s career has played a huge role in my life, and I have learned many valuable lessons from that man. As a child I loved spending the weekends sitting around watching Nascar, Formula 1 and Grand Prix races with my Dad. Every Tuesday night my Dad and I would hit up Classic Car Shows held at a local mall. During my downtime I was known to flip through Auto Trader magazines and daydream. My Dad was always teaching me the ins and outs of vehicle safety and maintenance. The one thing I hadn’t realized was imperative to maintain on a vehicle until I was fully licensed driver was a vehicles tires.

Tire maintenance is often something that is neglected by many. By routinely having your tires serviced you are optimizing the tires performance and your vehicle’s fuel efficiency, but not only that — you are prolonging the life of your tires.
In May, I announced that I was selected as a Sailun Tires Brand Ambassador. Now there are many tire brands out there. I’ll be completely honest with you when I say that I hadn’t heard of Sailun Tires prior to applying to the brand ambassador program. Given my lack of knowledge and brand awareness this increased my excitement to participate in this campaign. One aspect of being a brand ambassador meant that I got to spend the day with Sailun Tires, PTPA Media and fellow brand ambassadors on June 12 at a Sailun Tires Track Event. An event where we were educated on the brand and got to put the tires to the test! We all got to put the pedal to the metal! It was safe to say many of us drove the cars around the track like we were taking off in a stolen vehicle on some sort of hot pursuit! It was a great way to cure our need for speed!
Prior to event day I thought we would be in the passenger seat while the professional drivers drove us around the track. It wasn’t until a day or two before the event that it dawned on me that I would be in the driver seat with the professional driver in the passenger seat. To say I wasn’t nervous would be an understatement. My nerves quickly faded away as the day of the track event progressed, and my brand awareness blossomed.
On track day we spent a fair bit of time in the conference room being educated on the brand before heading out on the track. Did you know that Sailun Tires are made in China? I wouldn’t have assumed much less.  Many household tire brands have tire manufacturing facilities in China, including: Goodyear, Bridgestone and Michelin. Sailun Tires can be found in over 50 countries.
Sailun Tires may not be an industry leader, but they recognize that and are quite content with being part of the value tier segment. Being in the value tier has given Sailun 50% access based on market segmentation. Many consumers are uneducated when it comes to value tier products. Safety, value and performance are important to the majority of consumers in the market for a new set of tires. Sailun Tires recognizes that! Would you believe that each Sailun Tire goes through uniformity testing? They certainly do! I was truly amazed by the commitment this brand had to delivering a high quality tire at an affordable price.
After our breakout session we took to the track where we had the chance to drive slalom courses and high-speed laps with u-turns.
Each test involved four laps around the track in a Ford Fusion.  There were two Ford Fusions on course. Both with different sets of tires on the vehicle. One being Sailun Tires, and the other was an undisclosed tire brand. During each testing session we drove both vehicles. It gave us – the ambassadors – a full fledged experience. A real opportunity to put the tires to the test, and drive the way we normally wouldn’t. Heck – I’m sure my Father would have wrung my neck had he seen some of the high speeds I was driving at on the course! Ha.
Following the completion of each course we had to complete a survey, providing our feedback on which tire we felt performed better.
I have to say I felt the difference in the tires from the get-go. Driving in the vehicle that had the Sailun Tires I felt safe and in control of the vehicle. I remember telling Matt Pritiko (professional race car driver) upon completing one of my laps around the track that  you could feel the high performance of the tire. You were able to trust that if you had to slam on the brakes your vehicle would come to a complete stop, fluidly and quickly. Not only that the tires were very quiet. Not once did I hear them scream when whipping around the track, completing slaloms and doing tight u-turns at speeds of 60 km/hr or higher.
In the car that had the undisclosed brand of tires I had a few “oh shit — are we going to spin out moments?!”. Global News sent over a chopper to capture the vehicles driving the course. For these segments the professional drivers took to the drivers seat. After driving a few laps myself, I was feeling daring and jumped in the passenger seat. What was I thinking?!? I had no idea what I was in for until the driver sped down the track at speeds I would never drive. Oddly enough, I had also jumped into the vehicle that had the undisclosed brand of tires. My stomach was in my throat the entire time as we looped around the track. I can vividly remember hearing the tires squealing as we embraced each tight turn. I was terrified at one point that we were going to spin out. Suffice to say I walked away in one piece, but still. Nothing compares to how safe I felt behind the wheel of the vehicle with the Sailun Tires. I always felt uncomfortable whether I was the driver or passenger of  the vehicle with the undisclosed brand of tires.
I can proudly attest that Sailun is with you through every turn. A brand that can be trusted! A brand that I would highly recommend to many.
The Sailun Tires Track Event was a lifetime experience. An event that I went home reeling about! I had such a high from all the adrenaline. There was just nothing quite like it!
Did you know that Sailun Tires has been awarded the PTPA Seal of Approval? After experiencing and testing the tires firsthand I can definitely see why!!
Would you like to win 1 of 3 $100 Petro Canada Gas Cards? Of course you would! Oh and did I mention the grand prize is a set of all-season Sailun Tires! This giveaway can’t get much better than that!
