In February, I was selected to take part in the Ding Dong Diaper Ditch movement. The mission of the Ding Dong Diaper Ditch challenge was to surprise a new Mom or expectant Mother with a diaper filled gift basket, welcoming the new baby. The gift basket included: Pampers Swaddlers Diapers (size 1), Pampers Sensitive Wipes, Ivory Snow Liquid Detergent, a copy of “Caring for Kids: The Complete Guide to Children’s Health” and an Olympic Canada onesie (similar to the one my wee guy sported back ¬†during the filming of the O’Canada Baby video for Pampers celebrating Team Canada).

Once given the supplies to complete the mission, I was allowed to personalize the basket however my heart desired, and ditch it on the chosen family’s doorstep. Choosing which family to give this lovely basket to was a challenge. One of my husband’s colleagues had just welcomed a baby, but I had no way to get the basket to her. I also have a few friends who are expecting. I wound up picking an expectant friend, and old co-worker as my victim in this challenge; let’s call her M. Not that she was really the victim. Heh.

M has a good understanding of the nature of work I do in the blogosphere and through social media. Given that I thought she would easily figure me out. For the challenge I chose to remain rather anonymous. I wrapped up the basket, and dropped it off on her doorstep one day shortly before she got home from work. Only problem was her hubby arrived home first to find this anonymous basket. I can only imagine his look of surprise to find the basket on the porch. M usually arrives home around 6, so I was certain that by 6:05PM I would have a text hit my inbox. Notta! Time just kept rolling by and no messages came rolling in… So I posted this picture on instagram:

15 minutes after posting on instagram, I receive this text:

I couldn’t help, but laugh out loud. Seriously – it was best kind of feeling to pull of this random act of kindness and receive such a rave response!

Shortly after that, M posted this photo to instagram:

M – I really hope you enjoy this basket! Thank you so much for welcoming us to the sticks, and always being there! Congrats again on the little bundle you are expecting in the Summer of 2013. I couldn’t be more excited for you and your family!

So there you have it folks… Ding Dong Diaper Ditch: Mission Complete!!
