Parenthood can be such an overwhelming experience. On a daily basis parents deal with glorious and not-so-glorious moments. What doesn’t change in those moments is our love for our children or the support that stands behind us. There are so many times as a Mom that I have felt alone, but truth be told there are so many other parents out there going through the exact same thing.

Fisher Price recently launched the Million Moments of Joy Campaign that focuses on celebrating the real joys of motherhood. You know the real, honest-to-goodness, stressful, scary, overwhelming and good moments. We have all been there as Mom’s and experienced these moments firsthand. You may look back and smile… you may laugh… you may cry. BUT these moments are just that — real. For that reason they deserve to be celebrated. To participate in the contest, pop on over to the Fisher Price Million Moments of Joy website to upload your photos, videos and/or stories. There are 8 weekly prizes being awarded at the approximate retail value of $200.00. Awesome, right?!

While were at it… I thought I would share some of my Million Moments of Joy with you. Lord knows I have many of them…

Nothing was quite like being 3 days OVERdue and feeling like a complete whale. I was certain that the wee babe was never going to make his grand entrance into the world. I was completely OVERstimulated and eager for my home birth. Most of all I just couldn’t wait for the satisfaction of holding my wee little man and falling completely head OVER heels in love with him as I inspected every little inch of his body.

Being a new Mom or Dad can be a completely OVERwhelming experience. No matter how OVERtired you are in the initial few days, nothing changes how much you love your little bundle. When my daughter was just a few weeks old I really should have been embracing the golden rule of sleeping when your baby sleeps. I was simply too enthralled with her to want to sleep. Nothing beats those newborn snuggles.
My son battled severe GERD and colic the first 9 months of his life. I was lucky if I managed to get 3 hours of broken sleep each night, and each day he spent most of his time in my arms or screaming. I was so OVER stretched during those nine months and at my wits end. My daughter was just shy of 2 years old at the time and did her best to help me entertain my son when the goings got rough. Her idea of entertaining him was mocking him. Yep… Those were the times. Now that it’s a phase that is long OVER with, I can’t help but look back and laugh.
And then there are those moments that are just OVERLY perfect. My daughter and I have those moments often as we bond and have our girly time. I’m OVER the moon in love with her. She is my best friend, and one day she will realize that I’m hers too.
It was so hard to just narrow it down to a few moments to share with you. I have a Million Moments of Joy that I could have celebrated with you. As I’m sure you have many moments to celebrate too… So what are you waiting for head on over to the Fisher Price website and share your Million Moments of Joy. I bet you can’t pick just one moment to share!
Disclosure – I am participating in the Million Moments of Joy Blogger Campaign by Mom Central Canada on behalf of Fisher-Price. I received compensation as a thank you for participating and for sharing my honest opinion. The opinions on this blog are my own.
