My husband and I are avid movie watchers. Before children we were avid movie-goers. Nowadays we have to wait for movies to be released on DVD. Babysitting isn’t easy to come by. While I enjoy the times when I get to sit down and enjoy a good movie with the hubs, I also enjoy watching movies alone. On my own time.
Last week I had the opportunity to do just that. I was sick. The husband was working from home and taking care of the kids. Perfect opportunity to grab a chick flick and laze in bed. I was in the mood for a movie that would empower me as a woman and as a parent. Won’t Back Down was just that.
The movie features Oscar® Nominees Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis, as they lead a stellar cast in an empowering drama that was inspired by actual events. Hard-working single mom Jamie Fitzpatrick (Gyllenhaal) is concerned that John Adams Elementary is letting her daughter down. Teaming with a caring teacher (Davis) who wants the best future for her own son, she sets out to improve attitudes and elevate the school’s academic standards. Despite the odds, with courage, hope and persistence, the women just might prevail.
Won’t Back Down is a film that won’t disappoint. It may not be a movie that you want to watch with your spouse or on a first date, but it’s the perfect flick for when you are in need of a pick me up. It’s an uplifting movie to say the least!
