Halloween is mere days away. My household is rearing with excitement as the days draws nearer. The kids are anxious to showoff their spooky Halloween costumes and head out trick-or-treating.  I may be guilty of fueling their excitement over the past few weeks with Halloween crafts and baking. How could I turn down the opportunity to get crafty and messy with my little critters?! It’s just too much fun to pass up!

Recently, I received a spooktacular Halloween package of goodies from Kellogg’s. My husband and I got busy in the kitchen with our little trick-or-treaters making and decorating spooky Halloween Rice Krispies. We made everything from bats and pumpkins to zany, kooky monsters.

Making Rice Krispies is quite simple. All you need is 1 pkg of regular marshmallows, 1/4 cup margarine and 6 cups of Rice Krispies. I melted the the marshmallows and margarine in a microwave safe dish. It took all of two minutes to melt. Once melted, whisked the mixture until smooth and added the Rice Krispies. I had intended for the Rice Krispies to set in a pan before we started crafting away…

However….

My little goblins were far too excited to wait for the Rice Krispies to set before jumping right in and getting creative.

We used cookie cutters and other candy treats to decorate the pumpkins, bats and monsters that we were quick to create. Just as quickly as the treats were being decorated, they were being gobbled up.

How is your family embracing the Halloween spirit this October?
