Thirsty Thursday: Kalimotxo (Cocavino)

I’m a lover of white wine. Always happen been.

I’ve tried red wine on numerous occasions, but I’ve never acquired the taste for it. Maybe I’m not trying the right ones.

The key factors that deter me from enjoying a glass of red…

  1. Red wine goes straight to my head.
  2. I don’t like the dryness of it.
  3. I always get an instant headache after drinking a glass.

All those reasons combined make it not worth it to me.

This week my husband created this concoction using red wine and cola w/ lime. I’ve never tasted anything like it, and get this — I loved it!!!  I’ve never liked anything containing red wine prior to this day.

After doing my research I discovered this concoction has a name — Kalimotxo (also known as cocavino).

Red Wine
Cola Beverage (I use Pepsi w/ Lime)

In a wine glass, pour in 50% red wine and top with 50% cola beverage. Add in an ice cube.

I’m not much of a red wine drinker either unless it’s Sangria. This sounds like it could be delicious. I will have to try this soon!

Is it bad that I’m not much of a Sangria fan either? However, I haven’t tried it in forever… So my taste may have changed.

YUMMY! I just found a great red wine the other day. I am not a big wine drinker but it’s like heaven. Cupcake Red velvet. Now this looks awesome, a must try! Thanks for posting!

When my husband told me about his concotion, I thought he was off his rocker. Surprisingly, it tastes rather good! Although it probably wouldn’t appease a regular drinking of red.

Wow. I would have never thought to do that! Red wine also does weird things to my head. It’s the tanin in the red wine that gives me a crazy headache! :(

Tanin, you say? Maybe that’s what triggers mine too. Hmm.

This concotion definitely is a bizarre combo, but oh-so-yummy.

I’m not a drinker at all so I don’t really know what those two things would taste like together.
