We love to read! Our house is inundated with children’s books. We really should invest in a book shelf. At Christmas rather than littering the children with tons of toys, Santa brings handfuls of books. It helps prevent meltdowns and diverts the children from feeling overwhelmed. The kids dig it.
Here are some of our current favorite reads around the house….

The Wonderful Pigs of Jillian Jiggs by Phoebe Gilman

When Jillian Jiggs finally cleans her room, she discovers a jar of buttons and decides they look just like pigs’ noses. So she comes up with a fantastic idea — she’ll make pigs and sell them! She makes pirate pigs and princess pigs, striped pigs and plaid pigs… but once they are made, can Jillian part with them? Includes instructions on how to make your very own wonderful pig.

Big Dog… Little Dog by P.D. Eastman

Size doesn’t matter in the friendship of these furry friends.

From Head to Toe by Eric Carle
What does an elephant do? It stomps its foot. Can you?

“I can do it!” is the confidence-building message of this fun-filled interactive picture book. A variety of familiar animals invite young children to copy their antics, and as they play, they will learn such important skills as careful listening, focusing attention, and following instructions.

Thomas’ Snowsuit by Robert Munsch

His mother, teacher, and principal have a hard time trying to convince Thomas to wear his snowsuit.

Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch

Elizabeth, a beautiful princess, is all set to marry Prince Ronald — until a dragon smashes her castle, burns her clothes with his fiery breath and prince-naps her beloved Ronald. But Elizabeth is no ordinary princess — she sets out to rescue her prince! However, Ronald may not be the right prince for her after all.
