A few months ago I participated in a Big Cook event with momstown Whitby-Ajax.
Have you ever participated in a Big Cook? It’s actually quite a neat concept. You gather into a group of 4 or 8 (split into two groups). Each member picks 2 recipes and prepares 8 batches (uncooked) of each recipe. You’ll then exchange those meals with the other group members. It’s a nice way to fill your freezer for the month. Handy if you are an expectant Mom, a busy stay-at-home Mom or a working Mom.
My daughter really took to one of the meals from the Big Cook event. I’ve included it in our meal roster ever since.
CROCK POT BBQ BEEF
1.5lbs Stewing Beef (cut into bite size pieces)
1 packet of onion soup mix
1 cup ketchup
2 cups of celery (diced, approximately 5 stalks)
Rice (2 cups)
Combine onion soup mix, ketchup, mustard, water, vinegar. Place beef in bottom of slow cooker with celery. Pour sauce over the meat. Give it a stir. Cook on low 7 hours.
Serve over rice.
