The Thirsty Thursday is back! This week with a healthy drink recipe.
In my recent theme of focusing on getting healthy, fit and just back on track… it is only fitting!

A couple weeks ago Petra from Petra King Photography and Sarah from Sleeping is for Losers introduced me to the Green Monster. Petra and Sarah had been tweeting about their love for green smoothies. Naturally it peeked my interest, so Sarah told me to check out her video.

Initially I was quite weary of the whole idea of a ‘green smoothie’. I couldn’t imagine how it could possibly taste good! That was until I made one.

Traditionally when I make them I include:

  • Banana (one, broken into pieces)
  • Strawberries (4 to 5 strawberries, halved)
  • Spinach (handful of spinach, stems removed)
Occasionally I will also throw in some pear, berries or melon. 
Add all the fruit to the blender. Throw in 4 to 6 ice cubes. I also like to add in milk or yogurt, and sometimes some protein powder. I only add in liquid to the 4 to 8oz marker on the blender (not actually 4 to 8oz liquid). Blend and serve. I usually make enough for two tall glasses.
Green Monsters have become my new favorite treat post workout!

    You have to try Arbonne’s protein powder – it is sooooo yummy. I can’t live without my vanilla smoothie to start the day 🙂
