Oh man. Where do I begin?! This is going to be one heck of nostalgic post.

Who remembers the Popples?! I loved them growing up. My favorite was the pink one. Not surprising considering pink defines me.

When I was a youngster, my Nana made the point to pick me up from my sitters once a week. We’d always go out for a McDonalds dinner date and head back to her place. Whenever I’d arrive at her place, I’d always flock to her spare bedroom and pull out the retro Fisher Price Record Player. Did anyone else have one of these? I would love to get my hands on one for my children.

I’m a dancer. I always have been. I started dancing when I was 4 and kept at it. It only seems fitting that I loved My Pretty Ballerina growing up. I recently passed it down to my daughter.

I found my love for writing very young. I used to sit in my room and pound away on the typewriter for hours on end. My parents always enjoyed reading the stories I’d create. It may not be a toy, but it was toy enough to me!

Does anyone remember the Nano Baby? It was a very in thing to have when I was in the 7th and 8th grade.  It was a virtual baby that you could take with you everywhere. Like a real baby, you had to care for it. Change it’s diapers, feed it, wash it, play with it. May not sound like a whole wack of fun… but trust me when I say this toy was a popular one! I remember scurrying over to my local Wal-Mart the day they got the shipment in. They were off the shelves in a matter of 3 minutes.

Lastly Furby?! I owned one, I loved it. I taught it to say a lot of things. And then one day the battery started to die. I was convinced that it was possessed and stored it away in my closet. Never to be touched again. Haha.

Join this trip down memory lane with me… What were some of your favorite childhood toys?

Love the 80s toys. I also spent many hours “playing” on a typewritter from my grandparents basement. My mom still has our old Fisher Price Record Player and my daughters now enjoy playing with it. They actually reissued it, and you can pick it up new for about the same price as a vintage one off eBay (http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/toys/Fisher-Price-Classics-Record-Player/014397016971-item.html?ikwid=fisher+price+record&ikwsec=Home).
