Today’s my first day participating in the 30 day blog challenge. The first topic is “Current Relationship”. While this topic is pretty straightforward and easy to answer. The story behind the answer is long-winded.

I’m married.

I got married in 2007 to my reading buddy. Y’know the guy who helped to teach me to read when I was in grade 2 (he was in grade 4)…. that was 19 years ago. Sweet right?! I remember fondly coming home from school and telling my Mom about “that boy”. The one who chased me around the school yard on recess insisting that I put my jacket it back on. The one whose shirt I’d tug on as he read me a story. There was no denying I was crushing at a young age.

In 1997, my family moved to another part of town. I went to a different junior public school and J moved on to high school. My crushing days were over. There were so many other cute guys to daydream about. Johnathan Taylor Thomas for instance. Ha.

When I was in grade 10, my friend started dating a senior from another high school. This guy had been pretty insistent once he found out I was single that he set me up with his buddy. Lo and behold it was J. We kept arranging times for the 4 of us to double date, but J always seemed to “miss us” or not show. Not very long after did my friends boyfriend leave her and fall for me. Setting J and I up turned into something of the past. I was left so confused by the situation.

When I was in grade 12, my friends ex emailed me an invite to a party. I skimmed the list of people he emailed and one email address stood out to me. Still wanting answers. I took a chance and messaged the person. Just my luck it was J.

We chatted and chatted for weeks. We went on our first date in June 2002. We became best friends. We feel in love and the rest is history.

Hard to believe our 5 year wedding anniversary is less than 6 months away!
