How’s Baby Doing?

As you move into the second trimester, baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of baby’s systems are fully formed.

How’s Mommy Doing This Week?
Milestone: I’M 12 WEEKS PREGNANT! AH!!!!!! So happy!!! That in itself is an amazing milestone!
Feeling: Exhausted, hungry…. but very pukey.
Sick: My morning sickness has become 24/7 sickness. I’m nauseous and vomiting all day. Food just isn’t appealing to me. I’m having a very hard time eating despite how hungry I am. Diclectin has stopped working altogether, so I can’t even rely on that anymore to take the edge off. It’s okay though, I wouldn’t trade this feeling! It’s all worth it!
Cravings: Pizza, chips, Second Cup Chunky Monkey
Wishing for: A successful, healthy pregnancy.
Looking Forward To: Officially being in the second trimester.
Reading: Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyers.
Favourite clothes right now:  My maternity clothes… Yup – I’m officially in my mat clothes!!!
Current Project: Starting up my business
Weight: I’m not telling. We’ll just say I’ve lost 10 pounds since I’ve found out I was pregnant. Not good.

I had a midwife appointment on Monday, and I got to hear the sweet soothing sound of a little heart beating away at 150 beats per minute. So reassuring! My midwife has placed me under a lot of restrictions: no sex, no heavy lifting, no extensive house work (eg. vacuuming, yard work, laundry, etc), no exercise, and limiting how much I lift and carry around Lil’ Miss C. The restrictions are in place because from week 6 to 9 I had episodes of bright red spotting, and on week 7 I had a full on bleed. The babe is doing fine, and we can rest assured with that… But my midwife doesn’t want to chance it and wants me to follow these restrictions for now in order to promote the health of me and my unborn child. Fair enough… I just know me, and how hard of a time I have with “just resting”… But I’ll try.

After the midwife appointment, we told our families and friends. While some people were shocked by the news, everyone was thrilled for us! I’m so happy to have everything out in the open now…. and to finally be able to wear and enjoy the comfort of my maternity clothes. Yay!
