I know… I know… With how much I have been putting it off you all probably were beginning to think that I was not going to post about my past weekend of awesomeness… yes I said awesomeness! LMAO. I don’t think I have had so much fun in one weekend in such a LOONNGGGG time. Seriously!!!
On Friday night, JMK and I went out to the pub with a few so-called friends. James and I enjoyed a few drinks, and dinner at the pub — but decided to call it a night around 10PM and head home. Trust me you can only tolerate so much of said ‘friends’… if you would even call them that. When we got home we poured ourselves few pints (ok… more than a few pints), plugged in the iPod and played some Nintendo Wii. I think we finally ended up going up to bed around 2:30AM.. Not that that is late to us… I mean we usually stay up fairly late on Friday and Saturday nights.
On Saturday, the weather was pretty offish… Rain was threatening. It was just icky outside! Damn Hurricane Ike! I had to run some errands in the morning, and I bought myself a pink umbrella. Yes, I am aware I mentioned this in a previous post, but hey… I have to gloat about it because I have wanted a pink umbrella for what feels like ever. And you know what is sad?? There was a point in time where I absolutely HATED the colour pink. LMAO. After I finished my errands… JMK surprised me at home with a few movies rentals, candies, popcorn, etc. So we spent the afternoon watching movies, snuggling and munching on candies. Also because it was sooo dreary outside, we were able to turn on our theatre lights in the family room… and it gave it that much more of a homey-theatre feel. It was awesome! Then for dinner I ended up making a family favorite meal — Beer & Beef Stew… which is always a pleaser around our house.
By Saturday night I have to admit I started feeling a bit nervous. On Sunday it was scheduled that my friend Nat was going to do a trash the dress shoot, and I was going to be the portfolio model — and then afterwards we were planning to go out for some beers and wings. We had planned this like back in July, so her and I were both REALLY excited that the day was almost here. On Saturday night (the night before the shoot), I checked The Weather Network, and they had issued heavy rainfall warnings for the GTA and the surrounding areas. There was supposed to be a 90% that Sunday would end up bringing rain ALL friggin’ day. I think I nearly died when I saw this report, but I kept my fingers crossed that the weather would turn around.
On Sunday, the first thing I did when I woke up was rain to the bedroom and looked outside. To my surprise the rain had subsided, the clouds were breaking up and there were sporatic breaks of sun. Awesome!!! All day on Sunday though it did occasionally look like rain was threatening, but thankfully it held off! I drove up to Lindsay where I met Nat at her house. She has a very beautiful, older home! It actual makes me want to move further north one day, get out of the dreaded city, and buy into and older home. It was gorgeous. We started shooting around shortly after 3PM. We ran into a brief complication when tying up my dress… For the most part it tyed up… but there was one teensy-weensy little area that couldn’t be pulled any tighter, so a tad of skin showed through the corset… It wasn’t all that noticeable. Thank god!! I have to say I am soooo proud of myself for being able to fit into my wedding dress still, a year and a half after my wedding. It was a great feeling. The first location we went to take some pictures at was the Old Mill in Lindsay. We took some pictures against the old brick walls, and there was also a bit of a stream too. It was a very rustic, peaceful setting. Initially, I have to admit I felt a little strange to be waltzing around in my wedding dress. Haha. So I was feeling a little out of my element at first… But after taking a few shots, I began to feel more confident with the shoot and totally began having so much fun… And I mean A LOT of fun! After we finished shooting at the Old Mill we then head off to an abandoned house/barn in Reaboro. There were no trespassing signs all over the property, but that didn’t stop Natalie and I. As we started to walk through the long grass up closer to the barn… we heard a bit of clanking… It sort of freaked us out, but Natalie hollered out that we were just taking a few pictures and we would be on our way to reassure who ever may have been there, if anyone. We started taking pics up closer towards the barn when all of sudden we heard a light clank and then a loud bang. Seriously it sounded like someone was banging together a meat cleaver… I’m not kidding!!! I screamed, and we both began hightailing it off the property and back to the car. I felt so much adrenaline, it was insane!! I never thought I could run so fast in my wedding dress, either. Haha. I have to admit though… I felt very sexy taking pictures next to this abandoned barn… It might have been resulting from the fear. LOL. Along the way to our next location, we made several stops to take some roadside shots and we also found this farmers field with hay rolls, and stopped to take some pictures there. The wind a top the hill with the hay rolls was amazing. The wind was strong enough that it was actually able to carry my train. The clouds were phenomenal too. I am sure Natalie got some gorgeous shots! Our final stop was at Sturgeon Lake heading towards Bobcaygeon where we took some fun shots by the water and in the water. Yes, I got in the water in my wedding dress! Hehe. It was so refreshing at Sturgeon Lake, and I am sure Natalie caught some awesome water shots. We both ended up getting completely soaked. And me being the idiot that I can be forgot to bring a change of underwear. LOL. So I ended up having to go commando after the shoot. LMAO. My car also totally now smells lake-ish… Probably because us girlies were in it in sopping wet clothes. Haha. But it was totally worth it. If you were to ask me what my fav part of the whole day was… I don’t think I could pinpoint just one thing. The whole day was sooo much fun, and I am glad that I got to spend it with a good friend. 🙂 After the shoot we were planning to go out for beer and wings, but we decided to get some fast food instead and go out for beer and wings another night. All in all as you can probably gather by how much I am babbling… I had an awesome Sunday. I will be sure to post some pics soon!!!
I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend, and I know I may not say it enough but I am so grateful to have such amazing family and friends. 🙂
